Pine creek is a little cafe nestled on the pathway, East River Road, in Paradise Valley south of Livingston Montana. The tall peaks, Absaroka rise to the east as the Gallatins fall to the west in this wonderful valley north of Yellowstone National Park. Each Thursday evening, BlueGrass Musicians arrive with anticipation to jam together with like minded souls. I find myself there, spread out on small table with two other artist, whom I meet to paint the evenings activities. This is a wonderful exercise to try capture the moments with pen and brush as the musicians play one tune then another. Usually a fiddle, mandolin, up right base, banjo and many guitars,  create an interesting combination of shapes and colors with human forms flexing here and there. I love to see what the process has completed after three hours of late night tunes.

In the process of capturing the moments, a good sturdy table applies, small arrangement of supplies, paper many sizes, 5x7, 5x9, 8x10, 8x15, a few water soluble pencils or pens, a good watercolor brush, 6, 8, or 10. small fold out palette 10x5, rag for dabbing, of course a jar, plastic cups of water. AH! Yes a good eye and a good memory for follow through, like a good golf swing.

Here are some of those completions.
